Ali Smith (born December 13, 1988) is a British Paralympic athlete who has etched her name in the annals of para-athletics history. Competing in the T38 classification for athletes with cerebral palsy, Smith has consistently defied expectations and shattered barriers with her remarkable performances on the global stage.

Transition from Eventing to Athletics

Smith's journey in the world of sports began with a passion for eventing, a discipline that combines dressage, cross-country, and show jumping. However, in 2016, she made the bold decision to transition to athletics, a move that would ultimately propel her to new heights.

Paralympic and European Championship Success

Smith's unwavering determination and talent quickly propelled her to the forefront of international para-athletics. At the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, she was part of the silver medal-winning quartet in the Universal relay, alongside Jonnie Peacock, Nathan Maguire, and Libby Clegg. Together, they set a new European record of 47.50 seconds, etching their names in the history books.

Smith's individual achievements are equally impressive. She won silver in the T38 400m event at the 2018 European Championships in Berlin and followed it up with a bronze medal in the same event at the 2021 European Championships in Bydgoszcz.

Beyond her athletic endeavors, Smith is a true embodiment of versatility and determination. A part-qualified accountant, she formerly worked as a management accountant for the Treloar Trust, a charity that provides education for disabled children and young adults.  Currently, she owns and manages a cycle shop while simultaneously studying for her CIMA exams, aiming to become a fully qualified accountant.
