TIM HUTCHINGS

Tim Hutchings - Former middle- and long-distance runner > A Versatile Athlete and Commentator!

Timothy ("Tim") Hilton Hutchings (born 4 December 1958) is a former middle- and long-distance runner who represented England and Great Britain internationally.  He excelled in track events like the 1500 meters, 5000 meters, and 10,000 meters.

Athletic Career Highlights

- Bronze medal in the 5000m at the 1986 European Championships 
- Bronze medal in the 5000m at the 1986 Commonwealth Games 
- Fourth place finish at the 1984 Olympic Games 
- Two silver medals in the IAAF World Cross Country Championships (1984 and 1989) 
- Winner of the 1985 Belfast International Cross Country race

Hutchings had a successful career representing England at multiple Commonwealth Games from 1978 to 1990.  However, a hamstring injury in 1989 forced him into an early retirement.

Post-Athletic Career

After retiring from competition, Hutchings co-founded the Brighton Marathon in 2010 alongside Tom Naylor.  He has also transitioned into a career as an athletics commentator for British Eurosport, where he has been working for over two decades.

Hutchings attended Worth School, a prestigious independent boarding school in West Sussex, which provided him with a strong educational foundation.  His passion for athletics and commitment to the sport have made him a respected figure in the running community.
